What’s the deal with artificial sweeteners? Can I have them?

The FASTer Way to Fat Loss® focuses on whole food nutrition and artificial sweeteners are not a whole food. The problem with artificial sweeteners is that the sweet taste sends a signal to your body that sugar is coming, which can cause an insulin response. No bueno!

Artificial sweeteners are also really not that great for you. If you need to sweeten something, I’d recommend trying to find a more natural alternative - something like dates, coconut sugar, honey, maple syrup, and stevia.

Speaking of stevia, it’s a great option during your fast as it has zero calories!

What can I drink besides water, coffee, and tea while fasting?

Lots of things! While fasting, you need to keep your TOTAL calorie intake under 50 and you want to have no fiber. You can enjoy things like bone broth, kombucha, flavored waters, sparkling water, and BCAAs. Be mindful of artificial sweeteners!

What are my options for Coffee? I can’t drink it black!

Good news friend, you can absolutely add the good stuff to your coffee! If your favorite creamer meets the no fiber and <50 calorie guidelines, then you’re good to go. Just be mindful of the amount, as it is very easy to go over 50 calories!

I drink my coffee black, but when I want something different I use NutPods or Califia Almond Milk creamer.
